Why you should care

Because the Webbys are the Academy Awards of the internet.

If the Oscars had a younger, online-savvy cousin, it would be the Webby — an award that honors excellence on the internet. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that OZY’s first Facebook Watch video series, Life, Interrupted, has been nominated for a Webby Award in the Social Video: Culture and Lifestyle category.

Our Life, Interrupted video series was born of a simple mission: to explore the surprising, moving and always revealing stories of people we pass every day, stories that introduce us to someone new while tapping into the ways we are all connected. Think Humans of New York, only video-first, fresher and more authentic than anything you’ve ever seen. And OZY chose to publish the series on Facebook Watch long before other publishers jumped on that train. Launching this social-first series was a creative risk, one that took resources, daring and careful craft.

Six months and 4.5 million video views later, here we are. We’re proud not only of what we’ve accomplished as a team but also in our ability to give you human stories that make you think and feel. If you’ve yet to experience Life, Interrupted, look for it on Facebook and OZY.com. And if you love it, please consider voting for us on the Webby Awards website.

Voting is open through Thursday, April 19. Check out more of OZY’s Facebook Watch series: Unapologetic, ROOTED, Around the World and The Professionals.
